The Hong Kong Prize
The Hong Kong Laureate Forum aspires to be a world-class academic exchange event to connect the current and next generations of leaders in scientific pursuit. It provides a platform for sharing ideas, fostering long-lasting connections across disciplines, generations and cultures. The Forum will feature a series of plenary lectures and panel discussions, together with informal gatherings that offer ample opportunities for networking and discussion.
The Prize Fund is deducted from the total bets placed by all players on each HK$10,000 Mark Six Entry and a portion of the proceeds from the winning ticket(s) is also allocated to various taxes, fees and causes. In addition, the HKJC’s security and customer service departments conduct stringent checks and tests on every material related to the draw, from boxing to transport, as well as checking the balls and the machine after each drawing. The same set of balls is not used for two consecutive draws.
Each prize will be awarded to a single recipient (i.e. no sharing of a prize) who can be either an individual or a team. The organising committee will make the final selection on the basis of its evaluation report and other relevant considerations.
The organisers of the hk prize encourage submissions from all sectors to create new and innovative ideas that would contribute to Hong Kong’s international development efforts and shape its role on the global stage. Winners of the competition will be invited to share their insights at a seminar in May 2020 and receive an award certificate.
US lawmakers have nominated Hong Kong’s pro-democracy activists for a Nobel peace prize, calling them “global inspirations” in the face of Beijing’s crackdown. Nine lawmakers from both parties signed a letter to the Nobel committee, citing estimates that more than 2 million people took part in protests last year. The group hopes to get the prize board to recognize activists including Joshua Wong, a 24-year-old lawmaker who has been arrested.
